Rhiwbina Tennis Club

Tennis has been part of Rhiwbina Recreation Club, and the local Rhiwbina community for over 100 years, boasting 7 Tennis courts, 4 of which are fully flood lit. Four of the courts were recently resurfaced and coloured in the iconic Green & Purple colours most famously associated with the Wimbledon Championships.

The Tennis Club now has over 350 members spanning a wide variety of age groups. There is competitive tennis played throughout the membership and an impressive 38 teams competing in both local and national league standard tennis. There is also an excellent coaching set up driven by head coach Tom James within the club to help progress each members tennis, whether it be to reach to higher standard of competing tennis or just to help improve on a personal level.

The club’s progression over the last few years has been very noticeable. As well as the resurfacing of four of the courts (hopefully the other three to follow in the near future), the club was chosen as one of only three clubs in Wales to host the iconic Davis Cup trophy on it’s Legacy Tour in 2016 following the remarkable Davis Cup win by Great Britain in 2015, plus Rhiwbina Tennis Club was recently named Club of the Year at the annual Welsh Tennis Awards.
